Has an eastern Pacific hurricane ever made it across the whole Pacific Ocean?
It's weird. It seems as if every hurricane in the eastern Pacific Ocean dies once it gets passed Hawaii. They never seem to make it to the the western Pacific. Why?

- None are known to have made it across the entire Pacific as eventually they get picked up by other low pressure systems moving across the northern Pacific, or they encounter water too cool to sustain them. The longest hurricane/typhoon was John, which lasted 31 days as it moved from the northeast Pacific, across the date line into the northwest Pacific before curving back northeast into the northeast Pacific again.
