What have Pacific Islanders contributed to our american society?

I have a history project and i need an article or two on how Pacific Islander immigrants have contributed to society. I also need to know how well assimilated they are and what modern problems they face. I would appreciate article links or books if possible.

2. WOW - as a Pacific Islander myself I am stumped for an answer. The only famous Islander I can think of is Don Ho from Hawaii or Jr. Seau from Somoa...not a huge contribution to America Society just a lot of entertainment.
