what could you say to clarify the difference between Asian and pacific Islander ethnic groups?

Why do you think some people have difficulty differentiating between various Asian American and Pacific Islander ethnic groups? What could you say to clarify the difference and distinguish between the two?

1. They are somewhat lumped together. I think a lot of it is the dark hair that is consistant with the groups. Also, many of these cultures are island cultures. if people don't know the differences, it's hard to distinguish any --especially if they live far away from where those people do. It's just human nature. I suppose you could just educate people on the differences --one person at a time as they say. Hope this helps.
